How We Conserve Energy at GMI!

The Green Mountain Inn has taken measurable steps towards a greener future. Join us in helping to leave a smaller carbon footprint in today’s world. The Hospitality Council Division of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce has named us a “Green Hotel in the Green Mountain State” as we intend to uphold our “Green” standards and help the State of Vermont remain sustainable.

The Green Mountain Inn takes pride in our efforts in building a sustainable future. Locally grown products are a huge part of Vermont’s agricultural business and also allow us to save emissions through transportation of our foods. We also offer, in-room recycling, composting, and of course the option of not washing you’re towels and linens everyday to consume energy. We believe any contribution, large or small can make a difference in our beautiful State of Vermont and around the World! See for yourself how we can help make a difference!

Hiking In Stowe

Stowe is a mecca for outdoor activity! From climbing Vermont’s tallest peak, Mount Mansfield, to hiking “The Pinnacle” and reaching its amazing view, to walking the 5.3 mile long Stowe Recreation Path winding throughout the town, crossing over rivers, and passing many of Stowe’s landmarks, you will never be bored outdoors. You can always spend your day winding down the dirt path that traverses meadows throughout the town, known to the locals as “The Quiet Path,” or head towards Cotton Brook, a swimming hole in the southern part of town. Here you’ll find the Little River (Moscow River) and plenty of walking and hiking trails scattered through the woods, all leading to the Waterbury Reservoir, home to kayaks, canoes, and picnics.

Stowe is home to both beginner and advanced hikes, ranging from .5 miles to 9 miles long. For an easy nature hike be sure to check out Moss Glen Falls, which leads to a stunning waterfall at the end. Sunset Rock is another short and easy hike with great views overlooking Main St. in downtown Stowe. More advanced hikers will enjoy the landscape views from the peak of Stowe Pinnacle and Mount Mansfield. And for those looking for a challenge, the “Hellbrook Trail” is one of the toughest in the area and is a definite if you want to encounter one of the most spectacular views in New England once you reach the summit! For a complete list of trails and locations, stop by the front desk and ask for the Stowe Hiking Guide.

Tasty New 'Snack's at The Whip Bar & Grill

Recently named Executive Chef, Cody Vasek, is winning over our guests with his fresh spin on comfort food. Vasek has touched upon all aspects of our menu, beginning with some tasty new 'snacks' and sides offered at The Whip Bar & Grill.

Vinegar Chips:
Made from PEI potatoes soaked over night to absorb flavor, deep fried in canola oil and finished with diamond crystal kosher salt…
This new addition has been quite popular among guests and locals. A smooth 'crunch' ends in a blissful vinegar taste, making this the perfect snack to pair with a beer on draft. Also comes as a side with The Whip Burger and Shake.
Petite Vanilla Milkshake: Made with parsnips, fresh vanilla bean, local Vermont cream and sugar...
Enjoyed alone or with The Whip Burger and Shake. Petite in size, yet full of flavor – diners can’t get enough!
Rosemary Popcorn: Fresh kernels, rosemary, equinox cheese (a local parmesan made in Vermont), butter and sea salt...
Munched on as a snack at the bar!

Hungry? Visit us and taste Vasek's menu additions for yourself! The Whip Bar & Grill is open daily, click here for restaurant hours.
